Welcome to Ten7tyFive Fire Photography by Matt Fernandez.

This site was organized in an attempt to show the viewers what public safety personnel go through on a daily basis. Being a 911 Dispatcher I've dealt with incidents similar to the ones in my galleries although I've been the first step in the the emergency response process.

I've been buffing the New England Area & various other cities (i.e. Baltimore, Detroit, NYC, Philly, etc.) for 8 years now & have not looked back since. Please check back often as incidents are updated regularly.

All photos you see on the site can be purchased at numerous different sizes & quantities. If you wish to publish any of my photos or have any questions please feel free to email me at any time @ mjf@ten7tyfive.com. Thanks for the visit & enjoy !

Hartford Fire Dept. 1-1-2 349 Blue Hills Ave. 11/12/09 : Hartford, CT - Around 1600 hours on Thursday November 12th, 2009 Hartford Fire Alarm shipped the box for the report of a structure fire at 349 Blue Hills Ave. Upon arrival companies transmitted the 10-3 (Working Fire) for heavy smoke on arrival from the rear of a three story wood occupied dwelling.

The first due Engine immediately began stretching while Ladder Company 3 took the "A" side of the building & Ladder 4 took position on the "C/D" corners off of Colebrook Street. Companies were faced with a heavy smoke condition & "collyers mansion" type conditions making it very difficult for them to locate the seat of the fire. At that time due to the worsening conditions District 2, Deputy Chief Hudson hooked the 1-1-2 (2nd Alarm) which brought an additional Truck & three Engine companies to the scene. At that time the fire had extended from the top floor into the cock loft & was also venting heavily out of the "B/C" corner of the dwelling. Interior companies worked very diligently to keep the fire at bay while Ladder Company 3 put its deck gun to use knocking down the bulk of the fire from the exterior.

It took companies a little over an hour to bring this fire under control while doing an excellent job saving the rest of the home from being engulfed in flames. No injuries were reported however six adults were displaced & assisted by Red Cross on scene due to the home being deemed uninhabitable due to fire & water damage. The cause of the fire was under investigation by the Hartford Fire Department's FMO.

East Hartford Fire 2nd Alarm 12 Bell Court 10/17/09 : Around 1545 Hours East Hartford 911 received a call for a fire at 12 Bell Court just off of Burnside Ave. While enroute dispatch notified Car 3 they were taking multiple calls & PD was reporting heavy smoke on Burnside. The Chief immediately asked for the working fire assignment. Intial assignment was Engine Companies 3 & 2, Ladder 1 the Squad & Car 3. The working fire brought Engine Company 6 as the 3rd due. Deputy Chief Olschefskie transmitted the 2nd Alarm on arrival for heavy fire on the #3 floor of an occupied apartment building. 2 Alarms added Engine Company 1 & Truck 2 to the assignment. Engine 3 laid into Ladder 1 which took position on the "D" side of the L shaped structure. Companies immediately began stretching a line to the 3rd floor & not long after Command requested Engine 2's crew to pull a 2nd line to floor 2 off their rig. Truck 2 was originally requested to the roof for vent but after setting up the stick fell short of the building. Their crew than assisted with the interior operations.

Companies made quick work & a great stop containing the fire to floors 2 & 3 with minimal extension. Command reported the main body was knocked down around 1609 & the fire was placed under control not long after. The cause of the fire is currently under investigation by the Fire Marshal's Office. Great stop by the bravest east of the capitol !

Portland Fire Dept. "Red, White & Blue Mass" 11/15/09 : Portland, CT - At 1530 hours on the afternoon of Sunday November 15th, 2009, Portland Fire hosted it's third memorial Red, White & Blue Mass. The ceremony took place at the town's St. Mary's church at 51 Freestone Ave. Active & Veteran military personnel as well as members from local Police Fire & EMS departments united for a mass of remembrance & thanks for all that these individuals do & have done for those in their communities.

The event was organized in large part by Portland Fire member Richard Basso. Basso who is also a member of the local Knights of Columbus Freestone council #7 said that this mass was set to honor those who "preserve, protect & defend" local residents. That is exactly what it did. Reverend John Ashe & Pastor William Hodge celebrated the mass & even though St. Mary's practices the Catholic faith the ceremony was open to all people of any or no religion.

The ceremony began with Connecticut Firefighters Pipe & Drum Corps member Kenneth Walker leading the mixed division color guard east on Freestone Ave from the town library into the Church. The Military division of the Color Guard was made up of numerous members active & veteran from our United States Army, Navy, Coast Guard, Air Force & Marine Corps. Following them was a joint emergency services color guard with members from the Portland local Police, Connecticut State Police, Portland Fire & a Paramedic from Middlesex Hospital. Following them was Portland Fire Departments color guard & proudly bringing up the rear was the color guard from Middletown Fire Department.

At one point during the mass, Richard Basso & three other members from local departments took part in the Roll Call of the deceased. Once this was completed "Taps" was played & shortly after "Amazing Grace" rang out on the bagpipes. At the end of the ceremony members from each of the color guard divisions gathered again & marched out of the church honorably as they came in to the sound of "America the Beautiful."
